Ulrich Brugger

About The Author

Ulrich Brugger is a lifelong educator, philosopher, and writer whose work bridges the worlds of pedagogy, self-inquiry, and spiritual exploration. Born in 1944, Mr. Brugger has devoted more than fifty years to the field of education, both in practice and in thought. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, with a concentration in psychology and philosophy.

Mr. Brugger has taught in a wide range of public and private schools across Europe, India, and the United States. His diverse background has shaped a global perspective on teaching and learning, one that values introspection, dialogue, and the awakening of human potential. In 1991, he founded The Ojai Retreat and Cultural Center in Ojai, California, and has served as its director ever since, creating a sanctuary for reflection, learning, and meaningful conversation.

Mr. Brugger’s writings are informed by decades of personal study in educational theory, philosophy, and spiritual traditions. He began writing at the age of 20, often inspired by moments of silence in nature or profound inner insight. He is the author of Eternally New: Meditations on Daily Living, Inner Freedom, and Timeless Truth and A New Approach to Learning and Living. Together, these works reflect his lifelong quest to awaken both the heart and the mind.

He has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who in America for his lasting contributions to education and cultural dialogue.

Ulrich’s favorite authors and philosophical influences include J. Krishnamurti, Rabindranath Tagore, Rudolf Steiner, Selvarajan Yesudian, and Elisabeth Haich. These voices continue to inspire his own work and personal journey.

As he looks ahead, Ulrich is currently developing a new educational project titled The Art of Facilitating Dialogues, Panel Discussions, and Conferences as an extension of his commitment to meaningful, transformative conversation.
